Cat-Loving Grandparents Turn Retirement Hobby into Helping Rescue Cats
Crafting Cat Beds and Toys
Meet Jae Shin and Young Suk, a retired couple who spend their days crafting cat beds and toys to assist rescue cats. After owning a clothing shop for decades, the couple retired in 2019, unsure of how to fill their newfound free time.
From Masks to Cat Beds
In early 2020, they began sewing masks and ended up with excess fabric. With their daughter Christina's help, who runs a cat cafe and fosters kittens, they pivoted to making cat beds.
Perfecting the Design
Jae Shin and Young Suk, being perfectionists, went through four prototypes before nailing the ideal cat bed design. Each bed is cat-tested, containing a mix of catnip and silver vine.
Hand-Sewn Cat Toys
Expanding their creations, they also handcraft ocean-themed cat toys, knowing that cats love all things fish-related.
Supporting a Cause
Their products are available on their website, Whisks to Whiskers, offering a variety of cute patterns. Sales proceeds go to supporting Meow Parlor's nonprofit, aiding in rescuing cats.
