March Meowness: Library Forgives Fines with Cat Photos

Discover how a library in Massachusetts forgives fines in exchange for cat photos during March Meowness. Find out how you can contribute to this heartwarming cause.

March Meowness at Worcester Public Library

March Meowness is happening now at a library in Massachusetts, and it's gaining a lot of attention on social media. The Worcester Public Library has announced that for the entire month of March, in exchange for a cat photo, they'll forgive your fees for lost or damaged books.

Cat Photos for Fee Forgiveness

The library's executive director, Jason Homer, says that if you absolutely cannot acquire a cat photo, they will make exceptions and that basically any ungovernable animal will do. However, since the pictures can be of any cat and not just your own, cats around the world have started donating photos of themselves so that people without their cats can have their fees forgiven.

Notable Cat Donors

Notable cat photo donors include Shaggy, the cat who refuses to eat his wet food unless it comes with a side salad, and another cat whose name is unknown but who apparently runs her own ice cream business.

Positive Impact

So far, around 400 library cards have been reinstated with borrowing privileges restored thanks to March Meowness. The library now has its cat wall, which is filling up with more cat photos as the days go on.

Contribute

I'm Jen, and I post something positive every day. If you have cat photos to contribute to the cause, you can comment on one of the library's posts about March Meowness.
