Thicken Nugget: The Cat Making Waves in the Swim Team
Meet Thicken Nugget
Thicken Nugget is not your ordinary cat. Imagine a pudgy feline making waves at the Canine Aquatic Center in Indiana! That's right, Thicken Nugget has joined the swim team, breaking records as the first cat to ever enroll there.
Thicken Nugget's Journey Begins
Thicken Nugget's story began when he was surrendered to the Vanderburgh Humane Society. Weighing a hefty 30 pounds, it was clear that Thicken Nugget needed some help to get to a healthier weight. Instead of the usual treadmill or diet plans for weight loss, Thicken Nugget's path led him to water therapy.
Why Water Therapy?
Water therapy helps animals like Thicken Nugget exercise without putting too much pressure on their joints. Not all cats are good candidates for this, but luckily, Thicken Nugget is different. He is calm enough to wear a life jacket and doesn't mind the water.
Becoming a Swimmer
Over the last 7 weeks, Thicken Nugget has become quite the swimmer. He attends two 30-minute swim sessions each week. Guided by his cat swim coach, Thicken Nugget swims across the pool, and he's already lost about 5 pounds!
Picking Up the Pace
Now that Thicken Nugget has gotten the hang of swimming, he's even started to swim against a resistive current. This helps increase the level of exercise he gets, making him stronger and healthier. He's also on a healthy nutrition plan, getting all the support he needs from his caretakers.
Looking Forward
Once Thicken Nugget reaches his goal weight and gets vet clearance, he'll be available for adoption through the Vanderburgh Humane Society. With everyone's help, Thicken Nugget is on his way to living his best life, one swim stroke at a time.
