The Unexpected Hero: Tree Climber Steve Murrow and His Free Cat Rescues
An Unusual Job for a Tree Climber
When Steve Murrow became a professional tree climber in New Jersey, he never imagined he would also become a hero for stuck cats. Growing up, Steve loved climbing trees in his yard. As an adult, he found a way to keep his childhood love alive by starting a business called Tesla Tree Service.
A Day in Steve’s Life
In a normal workday, Steve usually removes fallen trees or broken branches that might be dangerous. But the most fulfilling part of his job is something he does completely for free: rescuing cats stuck in trees. This part of his work brings him the most joy.
The First Cat Rescue
A few years ago, someone in Steve's town needed help rescuing a cat that had been stuck in a tree for 5 days. The local fire department couldn’t reach the cat, which was about 100 feet high. Steve was happy to help. With his climbing skills and calm nature, he managed to build trust with the cat and safely brought her down. Steve says that after this moment, he knew he had to keep doing this.
Over 100 Cat Rescues
Since that first rescue, Steve has saved over 100 cats from trees. He never charges for this service and never plans to. He believes that helping others when you can is just the right thing to do.
The Perfect Person for the Job
With his climbing experience and natural calmness around animals, Steve is perfect for the job. He continues to offer his unique rescue service, making him an unexpected hero in his community.
