Steve Murrow has always loved climbing trees. As a child, he spent countless hours scaling the trees in his yard. When he grew up, he found a way to keep this childhood joy alive by starting Tesla Tree Service in New Jersey.

On most days, Steve removes fallen trees or trims dangerous branches. But there's another part of his work that brings him special satisfaction - one he does completely free of charge.

An Unexpected Rescue Mission

A few years ago, someone in Steve's town reached out with an urgent problem. A cat had been stuck in a tree for five days. The local fire department had already tried to help but couldn't reach the cat, which was perched about 100 feet above the ground.

Steve stepped in to help. His climbing expertise got him up to the cat, and his calm nature helped him build trust with the frightened animal. Soon, he was able to bring the cat safely back to solid ground.

That moment changed everything for Steve. He knew immediately that cat rescues would become a regular part of his work.

100 Cats and Counting

Since that first rescue, Steve has brought more than 100 cats down from trees. Despite adding this service to his business, he has never charged for a cat rescue - and he has no plans to start.

For Steve, it's simple: helping when you can is just the right thing to do.
