Running for a Cause: High School Cross Country Team Helps Shelter Dogs Find Homes
Early Morning Runs
Every day, before the sun rises in Lutz, Florida, the dedicated cross country team at George Steinbrenner High School is up and ready to hit the trails. But they aren't alone on their runs. They have some furry friends to keep them company.
A Heartwarming Mission
The team has partnered with the Humane Society to take shelter dogs out for runs to give them exercise and increase their chances of getting adopted. This heartwarming mission is a way for the team to give back to the community while doing what they love.
Making a Difference
The early morning routine starts at 5 AM when the team members pick up their doggy running buddies and head to the nearby park. Together, they complete a mile loop, enjoying the fresh air and the companionship of their four-legged friends.
A Lasting Partnership
This partnership between the cross country team and the Humane Society has been ongoing for years, and the impact is clear. Many dogs have found their forever homes thanks to the efforts of these compassionate high school students.
