The Beginning of Piglet's Journey

Piglet, a deaf-blind pink puppy, was rescued from a hoarding situation at just 8 weeks old. Veterinary Melissa Shapiro fostered him, despite already having 6 rescue dogs, noticing the puppy's high anxiety due to his disabilities.

Overcoming Challenges

Melissa and her family provided love, touch signals for communication, and a consistent routine, helping Piglet gain confidence and feel secure in his new environment. Eventually, he found his forever home with Melissa's family.

Piglet's Influence Grows

Since Piglet's adoption in 2017, Melissa shared his story on social media, touching hearts worldwide. Recognizing Piglet's potential, a 3rd-grade teacher collaborated with Melissa to develop a social-emotional learning program featuring Piglet to teach empathy, perseverance, and inclusivity.
