One Man's Journey: 30 Acts of Kindness Before Turning 30

When Brian Tsiliacos turned 29, he made an unusual birthday promise: perform 30 acts of kindness before turning 30. His journey of giving to firefighters, teachers, and even zookeepers changed his life in unexpected ways.

From Birthday to Mission: How One Man's Kindness Project Changed His Life

Brian Tsiliacos from South San Francisco, California, started a special project when he turned 29. He decided to complete 30 acts of kindness before his 30th birthday.

Making a Difference in His Community

Brian's acts of kindness have already touched many lives in his community. His first major project involved baking and delivering goods to 400 firefighters in San Jose. The firefighters, who often work long shifts protecting the community, received these homemade treats as a thank you for their service.

But Brian didn't stop there. He created care packages for all the teachers in Oakland. Teachers often spend their own money on classroom supplies, so these packages were a welcome surprise.

Remembering the Unsung Heroes

Brian also focused on groups that don't always get recognition. He delivered meals to local 911 dispatchers, the hidden heroes who coordinate emergency responses day and night.

He made bread pudding for 135 garbage collectors, workers who keep our neighborhoods clean regardless of weather conditions.

Most recently, Brian assembled care packages for the zookeepers at the Oakland Zoo. These dedicated workers ensure animals receive proper care and create educational experiences for visitors.

A Life-Changing Experience

Though Brian only completed 10 acts of kindness during his first year of the project, the experience has been life-changing. He describes the project as having "absolutely transformed" his life.

Despite not meeting his initial timeline, Brian has no plans to stop his mission. The joy of giving and connecting with different community members has become an important part of his life.

Following Brian's Journey

Brian shares his kindness journey on social media under the account @30actsby30. There, followers can see what thoughtful project he takes on next and perhaps find inspiration for their own acts of kindness.

Through his ongoing project, Brian shows that kindness doesn't need to be complicated or expensive - just thoughtful and from the heart.
