The Surprise Defender

An unexpected hero emerged in Idaho when Joey the squirrel stopped a burglary. This small, untrained animal became a home security expert when it mattered most. Joey had been living in the home for about 6 months but had never been taught to protect the house.

A Debt Repaid

Joey had been enjoying rent-free living in his human's home. He felt he owed something to the household that had taken him in. When a local teenager broke in and tried to rob the house, Joey saw his chance to repay that kindness.

The Attack

Joey sprang into action with amazing bravery. He leaped onto the teen burglar and scratched him repeatedly. The surprised thief had no choice but to leave the house without stealing anything. Later, when questioned by police, the teen admitted that Joey had scared him off. He wasn't expecting a squirrel to come flying at him out of nowhere!

A Surprised Owner

Adam, Joey's human roommate, wasn't even home during the break-in. He had no idea about Joey's brave defense until later, when the scratched-up teen confessed to police. Adam was completely surprised by his pet's heroic actions.

Joey's Origin Story

Joey came to live with Adam after a friend's daughter found him as a baby. His eyes were still closed, and his mother was nowhere to be found. Adam raised Joey by hand and was planning to release him back into the wild in spring.

Back to the Wild

Following his heroic act, Joey has been released to live in nature as planned. He visits his former home occasionally but is mostly living his wild squirrel life now. Perhaps he's using his newly discovered security skills to guard his acorn stash in the forest.

Though he never received any formal training, Joey proved that heroes come in all sizes. This small squirrel showed that sometimes the most unlikely defenders can make the biggest difference when it matters most.
