A Peacock on the Run

A peacock has been successfully rescued after roaming freely around a UK town for about 6 months. During his time on the loose, he became something of a local celebrity, though no one ever claimed ownership of him.

The colorful bird seemed mostly content with his situation at first. He spent his days wandering through gardens and occasionally perching on rooftops throughout the town. Local residents kept an eye on him and his adventures became a topic of community interest.

Growing Concerns for Safety

Though the peacock's presence was enjoyed by many, residents began to worry when he started spending time near a busy road. His safety became a serious concern for those who had grown fond of the wandering bird.

The situation became more pressing when mating season arrived. The once-content peacock grew noticeably distressed. From sunrise to sunset, he made his loneliness very clear by crying out with high-pitched screams in hopes of finding a mate.

Creative Rescue Mission

It became obvious that the peacock needed to be moved somewhere safer and more suitable for his needs. Dartford Animal Rescue stepped up to help the lonely bird.

Knowing he was desperate for a partner, the rescue team came up with a clever plan. They played recordings of female peacock sounds through a speaker to attract him. Since he was already comfortable around humans, he approached the rescuers calmly.

The team was able to safely capture him using a wrap and, surprisingly, an IKEA bag. Their creative methods paid off, and the peacock was finally secured after his long adventure.

A New Beginning

After his capture, the rescue team connected the peacock with The Retreat Animal Sanctuary, which is already home to other peacocks. He now has a real chance at finding the partner he's been so loudly searching for.

In his new home, the once-lonely peacock can finally live safely among his own kind. His days of roaming streets and crying out for companionship are behind him as he begins this new chapter of his life.
